LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
I’m a #LesbianTranslatress. Yup, I tend to introduce myself saying so because not only does it make it visible but it also makes it part of my journey: I’m a lesbian activist translatress with +14 years’ experience.
When I came out of the closet, that was the turning point that made me found my niche: I would usually watch LGBTIQ+ content to find whether those stories with resonate with mine, and I realized there was some kind of dissociation (as a result of lack of knowledge, most likely) between what those realities were and what was being shown.
For some 8 years now, I have been studying (and using) this specific vocabulary.
As a lesbian translatress, I’m interested in sharing the knowledge, at a social level, of the lavender languages, that dialect we use in the LGBT world: it’s ours, the queer dissidents of the hetero(cis)normativity.
I do have some degrees and diplomas that helped curate my specialization:
- Degree on Gender, Politics and Involvement
(Universidad General de Nacional Sarmiento). - Master’s student of Gender Studies and Policies
UNTREF (Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero) Thesis: “Every translation is political”. - Postgraduate training on Audiovisual Texts and Accessibility
(E. N. S. en Lenguas Vivas Sofía E. Broquen de Spangenberg) - Graduated from Escuela Popular de Géneros Mocha Celis-Brandon
Some other previous studies and projects I was involved in:
- Spanish Language Copy Editor and Proofreader (Fundación Litterae).
- English Simultaneous Interpreter (UMSA, Universidad del Museo Social Argentino).
- English Literary translator (UMSA, Universidad del Museo Social Argentino).
- Co-founder of the group Feminist Translators and Interpreters from Argentina (TEIFEM)
- Founding member of the Audiovisual Translation and Accessibility Division of the Argentinian Association of Translators and Interpreters. (AATI)
